Arts Research at Georgia Tech

At Georgia Tech, the arts are a catalyst for discovery and innovation. Through collaborative research, creative experimentation, and partnerships across disciplines, we explore new ways to connect technology and the arts. From pioneering projects in music technology and interactive design to community-engaged performances and exhibitions, Georgia Tech Arts is shaping the future of creative practice.

Creating new knowledge and pushing artistic boundaries is central to the arts at Georgia Tech. We champion discovery, artistic expression, and collaboration that fosters innovation — especially at the intersection of the arts and technology.

Through interdisciplinary research across campus and partnerships with artists-in-residence, the creative industries, and arts organizations in Atlanta and beyond, Georgia Tech Arts advances creative inquiry that sparks new ideas and inspires change.

We also support our campus community through GT Arts Catalyst Grants for faculty and staff and GT Arts Microgrants for students, fostering innovation and infusing campus with a spirit of creativity.

a2ru Emerging Creatives Summit – Applications Now Open

We were proud to host last year’s a2ru Emerging Creatives Summit at Georgia Tech. This year, the 2026 Summit will take place March 5–8 at Michigan State University in East Lansing.

The theme is “Rewilding: New Stories of Collective Wellbeing.” Rooted in the idea of ecological restoration, “rewilding” challenges us to reimagine the relationship between humans and nature and explore how models of balance, interconnectedness, and sustainability can inspire new visions for community, collaboration, and wellbeing.

The Summit is a three-day, hands-on experience where students:

Work in cross-disciplinary teams to create a project that responds to the theme (examples range from podcasts to urban blueprints to performances).

  • Engage with leading interdisciplinary thinkers and peers from across the country.
  • Participate in field trips, micro-workshops, and presentation practice.

This is a unique opportunity for Georgia Tech students to collaborate, innovate, and expand their creative networks.
