Biomedical STAR-AI Makerspace Hackathon

Wednesday

April - May 29 - 10, 2026

1:48PM - 2:48PM

The Biomedical STAR-AI Makerspace Hackathon invites Georgia Tech students and post-docs to design AI-driven solutions within a 48-hour challenge window. Leading up to the event, participants have access to the AI Makerspace from April 29 to May 10 to prepare their projects.

Teams of up to five members compete by developing solutions in areas such as radiology decision support, drug-target prediction, clinical reasoning, and ICU monitoring. Some topics require additional certifications, including CITI training and PhysioNet credentialing, due to sensitive healthcare data access.

Participants must submit a code repository, technical report, and poster by May 9. On May 12, teams will present their work through poster sessions and oral presentations, alongside sessions on AI megatrends and experiential learning. A networking lunch is also included.

The event takes place at the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences, with parking available nearby. Designed to prepare the next generation of AI engineers, the hackathon blends hands-on problem solving with real-world biomedical impact.
