The screening is part of Georgia Tech’s annual Global Media Festival, a film and discussion series that brings global stories into conversation with urgent social, cultural, and ethical questions. The 2026 theme, Sustaining Empathy in a Fractured World, examines empathy not simply as emotion but as a practice — one that requires effort, attention, and resilience.

Petra Kelly – Act Now! reflects this theme by highlighting Kelly’s moral and political vision, which emphasized compassion, civic responsibility, and nonviolence. Through archival footage and reflection on her career, the documentary considers how activism can be rooted in care and ethical commitment rather than division.

The 2026 Global Media Festival includes 11 total events, featuring 10 international film screenings, each followed by conversations with directors, scholars, or invited guests. A new introductory directing workshop has also been added this year to provide students with hands-on engagement in storytelling and filmmaking.

All screenings are free and open to the public. Each event concludes with national food offerings, creating space for continued dialogue in an informal setting.
