Georgia Tech Arts Staff:
Rene Baker - Patron and Event Services Assistant
Rene Baker served as a member of the usher staff of the theater for many years prior to becoming a part-time employee in 2017. In this role, she performs house management duties in the Ferst Center.
Justin Camp - Production Assistant/Master Electrician
Justin Camp has eight years of experience in stage lighting. Before joining the Georgia Tech staff full-time, he worked with a contractor providing stage services for the Ferst Center. He also works occasionally at 7 Stages Theatre. He graduated from Georgia Perimeter College in 2014 with an Associate Degree in Theatre.
Paul Cottongim - Production Manager
Paul Cottongim has over 32 years of experience in technical theater production, including working at most of the theaters in the Atlanta area. Paul has overseen technical operations at the Ferst Center for the Arts since 2007.
Joe Davis - Production Assistant/Audio Engineer
Joe Davis has 20 years of experience in audio production. Prior to joining the staff full-time, he worked on a freelance basis at the Ferst Center since 2010. He graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Music Performance, Magna Cum Laude, and completed post-graduate training in audio engineering from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, Arizona, in 2008.
Ben Dostal - Operations Manager
Ben Dostal has spent the last 15 years in event management and production for programs ranging in size from 15 to 65,000. Coming to Georgia Tech Arts most recently from On Location Experiences, where he was responsible for creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences for sports fans, he is excited to bring his skillset to Georgia Tech to create unforgettable arts encounters for patrons. Ben holds a BS in Education from Florida State University.
Es Famojure - Student and Artist Engagement Coordinator
Es Famojure works closely with faculty and students on arts-related projects, coordinates arts engagement events related to the Georgia Tech Arts season and resident artists, serves as staff coordinator for the Council for the Arts, and serves as an advisor to Art Matters. She previously worked in the field of music artist management and also for Georgia Tech's Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts as marketing coordinator for the Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative and Africa-Atlanta 2014. She is a graduate of Georgia State University.
Elizabeth Geiger - Marketing Specialist
Elizabeth Geiger comes to Georgia Tech Arts after 8 years with CORE dance in Atlanta and a 25-year career in performing arts management in New York with organizations including Dance Theater Workshop, Feld Ballets/NY, The Joyce Theater, Lincoln Center Festival, Manhattan Theatre Club, and Performance Space 122. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Rachel Haage - Theater Event Coordinator
Rachel Haage comes to Georgia Tech Arts from the Rialto Center at Georgia State University, where she was an event/stage manager overseeing events with community clients, student groups, and assisting with production stage management for their season productions. Prior to that, she was a stage manager and event manager in Philadelphia.
Dorcas Ford Jones - Administrative Assistant
Dorcas Ford Jones received her Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University where she majored in African American studies. While at Emory University, she was the program administrative assistant for the James Weldon Johnson Institute for the Study of Race and Difference.
Allison Klem - Production Assistant/Stage Manager
Allison Klem graduated from Columbus State University where she received a BFA in theater with an emphasis on directing and performance in 2009. She previously worked as a freelance theater artist at varous venues, including the Woodruff Arts Center.
Lizzie Millman - Development Associate
Lizzie Millman oversees Georgia Tech Arts' philanthropic program and works to secure annual, capital, and in-kind gifts to the office. She comes from the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and System’s Engineering, where she also worked in the development office from 2013 until 2018. Lizzie is a Georgia Tech grad with a degree in management. She began her career in marketing and public relations in Manhattan before returning to her alma mater in 2013.
Holley Mitchell - Box Office Coordinator
Holley Mitchell has worked in box office management for over 20 years, including the Center for Civil and Human Rights, the Atlanta Beat women’s pro soccer team, and 11 years at the Center for Puppetry Arts.
Kelly Pierce - Marketing Manager
Kelly Pierce oversees the marketing efforts for Georgia Tech Arts and joins the team from Atlanta Ballet, where she was previously the associate director of marketing. She holds a B.S. in Commerce with a Concentration in Marketing and minor in French from the University of Virginia and a M.A. in Arts Administration from Savannah College of Art and Design. Kelly is also very involved in alumni activities with her alma mater, serving as co-president of the UVA Club of Atlanta since 2016.
Brenda Porter - Patron and Event Services Assistant
Brenda Porter has years of experience working in theaters. She has acted, directed, taught, managed, and been involved with various other aspects of theater both in front of house and backstage. She has worked with patron services at the Ferst Center for over 10 years.
Twans Rucker - Box Office Assistant
Twans Rucker comes to Georgia Tech Arts from the Tabernacle, where she was a box office ticket seller. Prior to that, she worked with various theaters around Atlanta and had an extensive box office career in the sports industry.
Dr. Aaron Shackelford - Director
Dr. Shackelford comes to Georgia Tech from the Fine Arts Center at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he was director of programming. There, he curated multi-disciplinary performing arts series and oversaw programs with an emphasis on both academic integration and community engagement. In the decade prior, he had a long-term presence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as the director of engagement and as Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Carolina Performing Arts. Dr. Shackelford holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in English & Comparative Literature.
Thomas Torrent - Patron and Event Services Coordinator
Thomas Torrent comes to Georgia Tech with nearly a decade of experience in managing houses and events. Before joining the Ferst Center, he was the house manager of GSU’s Rialto Center for the Arts, and prior to that he ran UGA’s North Campus Chapel.
Sarah Van Buskirk - Patron and Event Services Assistant
Sarah Van Buskirk has a BA in English from Wesleyan College, minoring in music with vocal emphasis, and a master's degree in teaching from Augusta University. Previously, she spent five years teaching high school english literature. Her theater experience includes everything from acting to running sound to ushering.
